What we’re loving this month…
The International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) happens every year in New York City and there’s no better interior design trade show for the latest in contemporary product design.
Here are some of my NEW loves… And they’re from all over the world!
ETHNICRAFT
I can attest this upholstered sofa chair is so comfortable despite its minimalistic form. It’s got lovely support in the back and seat and I love the welting around the edges, emphasizing the simple shape. Everything that Ethnicraft makes is simple, modern and has a natural feel to the design. So very Belgian! Even in this Osso Stool, you can see the simplicity and minimalist intent while still making sure the seat feels supported, sturdy and the elegance is never lost.
ROTHSCHILD & BICKERS
These lovely lights stopped me in my tracks… Rothschild & Bickers is based in the UK and I was so excited that they ship all over the world. There is so much to love here. The combination of contemporary shaped glass shades with opulent fringe details and decorative hardware, these lights look amazing as a single light or a cluster of pendants. The glass colours are also beautiful and are probably the hardest part of deciding which one to use in your home.
SIER
This Brazilian brand has so much to offer and it all stems from ergonomic excellence. Seeing these pieces in person only made me realize how much attention to detail and comfort is imbued into each item. Their mix of materials all work together in an organic matter. The dining chairs are simple perfection and I’m loving the modular and contemporary bookcases as well. True craftsmanship meets modern elegance - that’s what I see in Sier.
HELLER
Heller has been around from the 70’s but what I love about this brand is their dedication to sustainability. The Heller dinnerware is timeless design, perfect for indoor or outdoor and, happily, recyclable. Did I mention they’re stackable too!? And the colours! If they don’t make you happy, nothing will. But Heller has expanded into some seating and tables as well. One of my faves is the Vignelli Rocker that also comes in amazing bold colours.
HOLLIS + MORRIS
And I was so excited to see one of my local favourites - Hollis + Morris. This Canadian company makes thoughtful and innovative solid wood furniture and lighting - I’ve used them in many projects for my own clients. They had so many in their booth at this trade show and they’re designs were so well received. I loved their new wall sconce (my love of wall sconces continues) called the Oyster. With its iridescent “pearl” nestled inside a beautiful metal shell, it’s simplicity and elegance like none other.
